International Shibori Symposia

The World Shibori Network (WSN) was organized during the First International Shibori Symposium (ISS) in Nagoya in 1992, and the Second ISS in Ahmedabad, India in 1996/97, hosted by the National Institute of Design in India. More than 30,000 public and professional participants from 20 different countries visited the previous symposia exhibitions and crafts fairs. WSN's main objective is to unite artisans, artists, designers, scholars, business people, and scientists, in a productive exchange of information and inspiration; by doing so, the WSN hopes to preserve and to promote creative processes centered around shibori. By this international gathering we encourage the study and practice of shibori crafts in the world.
