International Shibori Symposium – EUROPE
at The Knitting & Stitching Show

Harrogate in Yorkshire, UK

Hiroki Takeda, President of the World Shibori Network (WSN) and 14th generation shibori merchant, and Yoshiko I. Wada, Vice-President of WSN and textile scholar and artist, invite you to attend the International Shibori Symposium (ISS) in Harrogate - the first ever to be held in Europe.

The ISS—Europe will include two full days of presentations, lectures, and mini demonstration sessions by shibori artists; a fashion show featuring featuring leading wearable artists and fashion designers organized by a local college; the opportunity to take a one day workshop offered by Yoshiko I. Wada on Techniques of Japanese Shibori.

ISS-Europe is organized in conjunction with The Knitting and Stitching Show, a large-scale, traveling conference/convergence of fiber artists and hobbyists that features demonstrations, lectures, artistic exhibitions, and a large commercial exhibition. This year, The Knitting and Stitching Show will include “Tactile Dimensions: New Shibori,” an exhibition of innovative work by leading shibori artists and designers, and a WSN meet-and-greet booth for networking, exchanging ideas, and purchasing books, tools, materials, and featured shibori artists’ work. The Knitting and Stitching Show (www.twistedthread.com) takes place in London (Oct 10-13), Dublin (Oct 31-Nov 3), and Harrogate (Nov 21-24). Admission to The Knitting and Stitching Show is included in the cost of ISS—Europe.
